TV3 tops again in viewership during Raya week
SISTEM Televisyen Malaysia Bhd, better known as TV3, Malaysia's first free-to-air private television channel, has maintained its position as the number one choice during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri week.
From September 20 to September 26, the station, with the tagline "Inspirasi Lebaran", obtained 32 per cent audience share among all viewers.
Media Prima Bhd's (MPB) TV Networks group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Farid Ridzuan said the ratings is a testimony that TV3 is still the Malaysian viewers' number one choice.
"These high ratings are no coincidence or accident. It is the result of our calculated strategy and extensive research that was carried out to better understand our viewers' needs," he said in a statement.
He said TV3 made early preparations to ensure that its multi-genre combination of blockbuster movies, telefilms, musical programmes, talkshows, news and documentaries appeal to its viewers.
Farid said among the Malay adult viewers, the station leads with 42 per cent audience share, out of the total combined MPB share of 56 per cent.
Meanwhile, other Media Prima channels provided optional viewing to audience who sought alternatives. TV9 provided options to viewers by featuring a number of comedies, and the strategy worked with around half a million viewers watching each of the programmes.
8TV and ntv7 offered alternatives to Chinese viewers with more than Chinese audience viewing share exceeding 40 per cent for the two channels.
Despite intense competitition, Media Prima marked a 44 per cent increase in advertising revenue compared to the Hari Raya season in 2008. "We view this as a positive sign that the country's economy is on track of recovery and a clear sign of the advertisers' confidence in TV3," Farid said.

Eid mood is still on. Selamat Hari Raya to all readers. Above, is very interesting (at least for me) for our lebaran days. This time I want to try using colonist language in my entry. To remind, I'm not try to showing off because my English is very-very bad.
Now i want to comment this article based on 2 points.
First, for economy views.
I've been highlighting the point of our economy is on positive track and advertising revenue. It show us the good news of our country's economy. I would be far more happy if our beloved country will be at the "boom/peak" of business cycles. I would say that we celebrating our Eid not as grand as before. Why? it simply because worlds having a very bad economic downturn. I think i should not tell you how and what because all have been stated in the newspapers and websites. If you want to know more, ask Googles or Yahoo!. You can get as much as you can.
Second, Malay Culture.
In wider scope, Islam encourage us to seek each other and also to visit each others especially during Eid Festivals. I would believe that we Malay mostly are Muslims. So, we should follow what we have been encourage to do so. As per hadith,
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: خَمْسٌ تَجِبُ لِلْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى أَخِيهِ رَدُّ السَّلَامِ وَتَشْمِيتُ الْعَاطِسِ وَإِجَابَةُ الدَّعْوَةِ وَعِيَادَةُ الْمَرِيضِ
وَاتِّبَاعُ الْجَنَائِز
Hadis Abu Hurairah r.a katanya: Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda: Ada lima kewajipan bagi seorang muslim terhadap saudaranya sesama muslim iaitu: Menjawab salam, mendoakan kepada orang yang bersin, menyahut undangan, menziarahi orang sakit dan mengiringi jenazah.
وَاتِّبَاعُ الْجَنَائِز
Hadis Abu Hurairah r.a katanya: Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda: Ada lima kewajipan bagi seorang muslim terhadap saudaranya sesama muslim iaitu: Menjawab salam, mendoakan kepada orang yang bersin, menyahut undangan, menziarahi orang sakit dan mengiringi jenazah.
The highlighted means of this hadith menziarahi or in English visiting gave us proves that we are been encourages to visit each other although in this hadith stated that visiting sick people but if we can see in wider views, we should take sometimes to visit peoples we know.
Back to the points, TV3 offer us lots of entertainment to ensure our Eid Festive won't be so dull. It's good until certain point but I bet most of people nowadays especially teenagers will choose to stay at home rather than follow their parents for visits relative houses. Why? It is because of this Interesting Media Programs. Most of them will create reasons to ensure they shouldn't follow their parents. So, this will take they far away from what stated in the hadith. I'm not sabotaging TV3, but on my opinion, medias should reduces they interesting shows and lets encourage peoples going out to give a visit. The culture have gone far away from us.
This is my point of views. And I think I have deliberate the points clearly to readers. No sabotaging. No provocations. Any mistakes, I would begging forgiveness. Back in mind, sorry for the grammar and the other mistakes because my English is bad and this is my only medium to resharpen my English.
